Child Psychology Skills

About the Level 3 Child Psychology Skills Certificate

This course has been developed for individuals who wish to assist in the child development process. Regardless of whether they wish to utilise their knowledge at home or in the workplace, the Level 3 Child Psychology Skills course will provide learners with the knowledge they need to succeed. What’s more is that it can be studied from the comfort of the student’s own home.

When studying this child psychology course online, students will need to complete a number separate modules. These engaging and informative units will educate learners about everything from cognitive and moral development to aggression and emotions in early childhood. Altogether the programme should take around 110 hours to complete; although we encourage students to move at their own pace.

Who should study this course?

This course is aimed at those who wish to work with children and adolescents; those who already work with young people; or those who have children of their own. This distance learning course could provide a basis for a new career or help people develop in their current profession.

You do not need any prior qualifications to enrol on this course. All you need is access to the internet and a computer, the motivation to embark on home study and a genuine desire to support children and young people during the development process.

What happens after the course?

If you enjoy studying this course, you may decide to embark on further related home learning experiences. If you want to become a child psychologist, then you will need to attend university and complete undergraduate and a masters child psychology courses.

If you’d prefer to go straight into employment, this course will certainly stand you ahead of the competition. There are plenty of careers which require knowledge of child psychology and development. These include but are not limited to:

The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 3 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.

The Quality Licence Scheme endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.

The Quality Licence Scheme is part of the Skills and Education Group, a charitable organisation that unites education and skills-orientated organisations that share similar values and objectives. With more than 100 years of collective experience, the Skills and Education Group’s strategic partnerships create opportunities to inform, influence and represent the wider education and skills sector.

The Skills and Education Group also includes two nationally recognised awarding organisations; Skills and Education Group Awards and Skills and Education Group Access. Through our awarding organisations we have developed a reputation for providing high-quality qualifications and assessments for the education and skills sector. We are committed to helping employers, organisations and learners cultivate the relevant skills for learning, skills for employment, and skills for life.

Our knowledge and experience of working within the awarding sector enables us to work with training providers, through the Quality Licence Scheme, to help them develop high-quality courses and/or training programmes for the non-regulated market.
